1998 Chevrolet Astro Minivan in Dawson Creek, BC

$2,000

Seller note:

This van has given relatively trouble free service for the 200k kilometers that I've owned it. I say relative, in that its had lots of good repair and maintenance in those years. The transmission was rebuilt at around 150k. The rear differential was rebuilt at around 235. The front end parts have been replaced twice due to wear, most recently during that major service at 235k. The radiator split last Summer, so that is new as well. The catalytic converter went, so I left it off and welded in straight pipe (this will need to be fixed if the buyer lives in a place that does emissions testing).
I'm not aware of any mechanical problems with this vehicle at all. I've been religious about the oil changes, and can tell you this van doesn't even lose oil between changes - no burning and no leaking.
The interior is in very good shape. The upholstery is clean with no tears, stains, or bad odours. The driver's door armrest has some splits into the foam from many miles of me keeping my elbow there. There is an odd sound when the heater fan runs at low speeds, but it stops on higher settings - vaccum line maybe? I just run it on high.
The exterior is looking its age, but there is no rust anywhere. Plenty of light scratches. The paint is faded in spots, and seems to have cracked badly on the hood. Apparently this business on the hood was a problem for many of these vans as the primer was incompatible with the paint. The rubber trim on the passenger side door is peeling away and should be glued back down.
The tires were all replaced with new all seasons around 10k kilometers ago. The steering is tight and smooth.
The van has ac, tilt wheel, and cruise. There is a brake controller , aftermarket transmission cooler, and trailer hitch as well - I'd be willing to remove them if the buyer doesn't want them.
A splash of paint and this is still a great family van, capable of pulling travel trailers and hauling 8 people in comfort with luggage. Also good for trades work, but still kind of nice for a work van.
I'm only selling this rig because we recently moved to 4wd territory. I've barely driven it since moving here, and stored it last Winter because it wouldn't climb our steep driveway in the snow. If I can't get $2k I'm going to keep it and put real aggressive snow tires on it, so serious inquiries only please.
